What an incredible honor it is to announce that our second of two incredible keynote speakers at this year's Breaking Bias Summit will be Dr. Aletha Maybank! Dr. Maybank currently serves as the Chief Health Equity Officer and Senior Vice President for the American Medical Association, where she focuses on embedding health equity across all the work of the AMA and leading the Center for Health Equity.
Dr. Maybank is a powerhouse, and I almost cannot believe that I get to bring her into conversation with us this November. Her expertise and experience will add a tremendous dimension to our summit.
I first met Dr. Maybank through the New York Department of Health -- and then, later, at the SXSW conference. (If you're reading that and thinking about what a dynamic woman Dr. Maybank must be... you're correct.) In all the time that I have known her, and across all contexts, one thing has remained constant about Dr. Maybank: her fierce commitment to fearless advocacy for racial justice. She uses her voice and her power to move DEIB initiatives forward within her organization and outside of it.
And yet, through all of this, her eyes remain forward-focused. She is a nationally sought-after speaker on the future of medicine and public health, and truly embodies what it means to act as a true social change advocate. I'm thrilled that she'll speak with us about how we can apply our tools to our life's most important charge: dismantling systemic racism together.
If you missed our announcement of our first keynote speaker, I hope you'll take a few minutes to learn about Sharon Salzberg. And if you haven't already, I hope you'll consider registering for our Summit today. If you have... well, first, thank you. I know you know that this work will take all of us working together if we're to end racism in our lifetimes. Along those lines, I hope you'll consider sharing the registration link with a friend -- perhaps one that will walk this path together with you.
